Book maze “The history of Mies Van der Rohe“. There are books, pieces of furniture, as well as various architectural models by Mies Van der Rohe.
Masterplan. The building is located on the territory of the institute, which includes unique historical buildings. Plot No. 2 turned out to be the most profitable place for the library, so the library is facing the main street, and is also located close to the metro station.
Symmetry. Analyzing the complex of the Institute, one can notice the symmetry that was traced in the early draft of the master plan by Miss van der Rohe. Current master plan shows the missing part of this symmetry on which we have located the library project.
Main volume. The building is divided into 2 forms, as there are the main entrances to the library from the pedestrian streets. To make the building lighter, we’ve raised it above the ground and created a small walking area with a summer cinema.
Sustainability. There are solar panels on the roof of the library and 50% of the interior is made of wood.
