CAPSA, GERMANY
Functionality comes from the pursuit of the essence of the space & not its mere outward appearance. Bauhaus reinforces this philosophy & therefore, forms the foundation of CAPSA.
Sleek and easily comprehensible forms speak to a larger audience, thereby creating an inclusive space where people from all walks of life, from all over the world feel comfortable. The building blocks follow the perimeter of the site & are stacked on top of each other to create a sense of connection while maintaining the individuality of each space. Exposure to sufficient external stimuli and interaction with a diverse set of audience opens up the users’ creative senses while encouraging them to participate and engage in meaningful & holistic explorations. Variety in levels, accessible roofs & creation of voids creates temporary spaces for learners & teachers to display their work all around the campus, thereby creating adaptable & flexible spaces. Multiple pathways create a variety of routes to reach each part of the campus, thereby giving users the freedom to alter their experiences according to their own wish.
Bauhaus philosophy places emphasis on portraying materials in their original form without any ornamentation to bring out the true essence of their usage in a built space. Following that, CAPSA follows a brutalist material palette with exposed rugged concrete, metal & glass panes which give the façade a sense of verticality.
