The projected library, as conceived by the authors, should become a new place of attraction for students of the Illinois Institute of Chicago. The bulk of the library pays homage to the iconic architect. However, the building itself is bursting with new, modern architecture. Inspired by the Royal Ontario Museum’s renovation project, this technique allows to increase library space for further development. Inside the library are located: shelving for the books Open Collection, reading/study stations, storage for items in the Complete Mies Collection and research stations, copy room, 60 seat Auditorium, administration and bathrooms. The interior space is designed as spacious as possible. Almost all partitions are made of glass. The team tried to make the library accessible for everyone, so conditions for a barrier-free environment were created.
Project consultants: Yauheni Shelkouski, Nikita Yaroshevich, Yuliya Halitskaya.
