As the basis of the idea, I took an interesting invention of Mies – a column in the form of a cross. The cross in Mies projects is a beautiful, functional and smart solution. And I decided to lay this solution in the basis of the constructive system of my project. As in the Mies projects, this cross separates the load-bearing and enclosing structures.
So, I tried to repeat its structure. The Mies cross in this building is only technically readable. It serves as a kind of core of a large free space . The floor plans are a square and the cross in it is a kind of convenient law of movement of people. I got wide corridors in the center of the building and placed the vertical connections of the building there.

Of the 3 sites, I chose this one because it was on it that I managed to place a symmetrical building and create a landscape that will compositionally support this library. The building is located in the center of the university site and has an excellent connection with Crown Hall, Paul Galivn Library and Siegel Hall. Entering this space, a person rises through the levels and only then enters the library. Thus, the viewer gradually enters the space filled with the spirit of Mies Van Der Rohe. The facade of the first floor is lined with reflective glass. This further increases the space next to the library and protects the Complete Mies collection from the sun.
The interior of the building is furnished with mies furniture . Characteristic materials are used in the decoration of the entire building: Travertine, Glass (and reflective), Metals and Onyx.
