HOW ABOUT NATURE?

In 1919, Gropius created a new order, an internal spirit despite the chaotic economy and the conservative culture at that moment. The new ideas, innovation, evolution and life through the works show that he could be a savior of human.

Today, our communication has been changed completely by the explosion of information and new unpredictable concepts. The drawbacks of this development can turn architecture into a means to satisfy the human nature, while its sole purpose is to deliver ideas.

WHAT WOULD BAUHAUS DO IN THIS TODAY SOCIETY? WOULD HE NEED TO THINK IN A DIFFERENT WAY AND CREATE DIFFERENT PHILOSOPHY?

Turn back to the prehistoric time, to start again and escape the personal pursuit, it is similar to putting yourself on the edge of the world to see how the world works. At that time, we can be close to a greater power, be ready to fight instead of being a coward before the chaos. We suggest bringing ‘nature’ as it was so influential to Bauhaus. It brought people away from mediocrity, it took inspiration from nature and created new philosophy with bold ideas and continuity of Bauhaus values.

DESCRIPTION:

Project is an area with an Eastern entrance. It has 3 layers and they can change their purpose. When approaching this, people can see a big yard where models of the students are displayed.

In the next layer, there is an auditorium, an exhibition area, a cafeteria and a library. In the exhibition area and co-working space, people can interact and work there. The auditorium is also situated there. Besides being a lecture hall, it can also be used as a function room.

Classrooms and workshops will be located in the last rooms. Internal and external structure of the building will be mixed in order to create a harmonious environment.

The dormitory is located in the North of the area. It is divided into modules with the same size as surrounding houses. The first floor is an open space for all of the students. The second floor is for the students’ rooms. Small playgrounds are built between buildings to create interactive space.

SYMBIOSIS

Symbiosis existed between teachers and students although in later time, it was to serve the human’s needs. Therefore, we suggest bringing them into ‘the forest’.

‘One forest’ is a timeless concept. ‘The forest’ represents a habitat, the trees have a relationship with each other, they have communication with each other. The small trees will co-exist with the big trees through ventilation, nutrition to develop the forest. Moreover, the small trees will help the bigger ones flourish.

In this new Bauhaus, the professor will lecture his students, and his students will absorb the knowledge and apply that into their designs, products and real life models. The people not only use the products but also have a chance to trade or to influence on the designers.
