Since Germany’s reunification in 1989, the city of Dessau has been involved in a process of constant improve and decline, where the essence loses the balance and the social visión are impacient in front of a benefic and outstanding change.
The intention of our project is achieve that change, create an image that brings stability, sensations and predictibility, through the value of desing as an integrator of all the modern disciplines. We are configuring a place where expressiveness and art are a reflection of modernism and progress, for the purpose of a social good.
The intention of the architectural plan design is to question all the things that were imposed. our buildings are different compared to the orientation of the context. Our project is oriented to the street, imposing at the land the way of construction.
We imagine about a solution that brings stability and surprise, designing spaces that doesn’t follow the shape of the land, instead, that spaces surge a base of the necessity to change the context.
The accommodation furthest from the buildings is the residence; seeks privacy and isolation from classes. In the center is the exhibition area, which is the jewel in the school’s crown, making it accessible to all spaces. Be so because we want the space to encourage everyone to visit the campus.
The classes and workshops are unified by a bridge; it reflects their relation, at the same way we tried keep some ideas of Gropius. We are proposing a natural barrier that reduces noise. This is done by replanting the trees that are on the ground. Finally, the purpose of the cafeteria is to be a social and relaxation area.
